Automatic negotiation
When a seller counters above your price, Kops answers for you — with counter-offers that get smaller each round and touch your maximum only on the last one. Here is how it decides, and every reason it stops.
A negotiation runs inside one Vinted conversation. You watch it from Inbox, on the thread it belongs to. Pro plan, and marked Experimental wherever you arm it — usable, still moving.
What it does
You make an offer. The seller counters — above what you are willing to pay. Without automation the conversation stops there: Kops has opened a negotiation it cannot conduct, and you have to finish it by hand.
Automatic negotiation answers instead. It sends counter-offers that converge on your buy price, and stops on its own the moment continuing is pointless.
Arming it
From a filter
In the filter editor, under Automatic acquisition → Automatic negotiation, turn on Negotiate if they counter higher.
It requires Buy automatically if accepted, because the negotiation converges on that price. Without a price to converge on there is nothing to negotiate toward. See Automatic acquisition.
From a conversation
Send an offer from the inbox, then open Auto-buy if accepted and set a threshold — Kops buys instantly if the seller accepts, or counters at or below it.
With auto-buy armed, Negotiate if they counter higher becomes available on the same panel. It uses the auto-buy threshold as its target.
How the counter-offers are chosen
Each counter-offer sits between the seller's current price and your maximum, and moves toward your maximum as the rounds run out.
- The first step is the biggest. Every step after it is smaller.
- Your maximum is offered only on the last allowed round. Until then Kops keeps something in reserve — a negotiation that jumps straight to your limit has given away the whole margin and invites the seller to push further.
- A step too small to notice is never sent. Offers are limited in number; spending one on a move the seller cannot perceive wastes it.
- Prices are not rounded to the euro. A precise number reads as a calculated limit rather than an opening bid.
There is nothing to tune. One algorithm runs every negotiation, so it can be improved for everyone without you having to re-configure anything.
When it stops
A negotiation ends for exactly one reason, and the thread says which.
| What you read | What happened |
|---|---|
| The seller accepted — auto-buy takes it from here | You won. The purchase runs immediately. |
| The price came within range and auto-buy fired | The seller came down far enough on their own. |
| The item was bought | The item was acquired some other way — including by you, by hand, from the inbox. |
| The seller kept naming the same price — they won't go lower | The same amount three times over the thread. A seller who returns to a price is anchored on it. |
| We used every counter-offer without reaching your price | The round limit ran out. |
| We were already at your max price — nothing left to concede | Your maximum was already on the table. |
| No offer could improve on our last one | Any remaining move would be invisible. |
| The seller declined our offer without countering | Nothing left to answer. |
| Vinted allows no further offer on this item | Vinted caps how many offers a conversation may carry. |
| Vinted won't accept a higher offer from us on this item | The remaining room is outside what Vinted permits. |
| Vinted's minimum offer is now above your max price | No allowed offer could still land under your maximum. |
| Vinted refused our counter-offer | Vinted rejected the offer outright. Sending the same price again cannot help. |
| Auto-buy is no longer armed, so there is no price to negotiate towards | You removed the threshold. |
| Our offer was cancelled | The offer was withdrawn on Vinted. |
| The conversation mixes currencies — we never negotiate across them | Two currencies in one thread; Kops will not guess a conversion. |
| The conversation no longer matches the item we started on | The thread moved to a different listing. |
| You are the seller on this conversation | Nothing to buy. |
| The conversation is closed | The thread reached a terminal state on Vinted. |
Once ended, a negotiation never restarts on that conversation.
Watching and steering it
The thread shows a negotiation chip while it runs:
- Negotiating with
round 2/4— how many counter-offers have gone out, of how many are allowed. - we offered {price} — the last amount Kops named.
- Countering the seller until they reach {price} — the target.
Three controls sit beside it:
| Control | Effect |
|---|---|
| Pause | Stops answering. The thread stays armed and nothing is lost. |
| Resume | Picks the negotiation back up from where it paused. |
| Remove | Ends it for good on this conversation. |
Removing the auto-buy threshold also ends the negotiation, since that threshold is the target.
Your final word
The last offer Kops makes can carry a short note, so the seller knows it is your final price rather than another step in a ladder.
Set it in Settings → Purchase Preferences → Message when negotiating. It is sent once, attached to that last offer only.
Leave it empty and Kops sends its own copy, hand-written in every language we carry. Write your own and yours is used everywhere instead — machine-translated, if you have asked for that.
It has no switch of its own. The note rides Message with your offers, three sections above it on the same screen: turn that off and your negotiations stop carrying a final word, with nothing on this section to say so. Full detail in Messages to sellers.
What it never does
- It never offers above your maximum. That is the one hard rule.
- It never negotiates on a conversation where you are the seller.
- It never converts between currencies.
- It never sends more counter-offers than the round limit allows, and never more than Vinted permits on the item.
